2013 marked the 50th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty, which left an imprint of sustainability on the friendship between the two neighbors on the Rhine. With this volume, the Elysée Treaty is embedded in a wide range of processes which allowed this unique and in many respects pioneering relationship. Differentiated disciplinary approaches and questions with respect to emotional, political, administrative, and economic as well as to literature, and film-historical aspects combine to form an everyday, cultural, and institutional history of the past 50 years of Franco-German relations.
